F.C. historical stories to be used in product hang-tags:
Bayern Munich || est. 1900
Bavarian giants Fußball-Club Bayern München won their fifth European Cup/Champions League title in 2013 as part of their continental treble. One of the most well-supported clubs in the world, Bayern boasts over 285,000 registered club members, with a renowned ultra scene, most notably Schickeria München, Inferno Bavaria, Red Munichs ’89, and the Munichmaniachs 1996.
Liverpool FC || est. 1892
A club steeped in tradition, Liverpool have won the European Cup five times, an English record. On April 15, 1989, Nintey-six Liverpool fans died as a consequence of overcrowding and police mismanagement before their FA Cup semi-final. This year on its 25th anniversary, fans gathered at Anfield to honor those who were lost that day, releasing 96 balloons to the sky and singing the LFC anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone."
FC Barcelona || est. 1899
Barça has become a symbol of Catalan culture and identity, and unlike most clubs around the world, is owned and operated by the supporters themselves. For many decades of the 20th century, Catalan society lived under dictatorships that persecuted its language and culture, and within this context, Barça became the hope for democracy and anti-centralism, giving rise to the slogan, “Més Que un Club."
AC Milan || est. 1899
Seven time winner Associazone Calcio Milan was founded in 1899 by English expatriates, lace-maker Herbert Kilpin and businessman Alfred Edwards among others, and is the reason they retain the English spelling of their name as opposed to the Italian, “Milano.” The Rossoneri colors were chosen to represent the players’ fiery ardor (red) and the opponents’ fear to challenge the team (black).
Real Madrid || est. 1092
The word real is is Spanish for royal, and was bestowed upon the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920. Kings of European football, the star within the “C” on the cap pays tribute to their record 10 European championships adorning their trophy case - with the bright pink color a subtle nod to their audacious away kit this season. The Champions League title is theirs to defend.
